Printing
Commercial printing in Colombo
Xpress Solutions prints the material businesses actually use: company literature, stationery, labels and promotional work. Most of it runs offset, and most of it is finished in-house rather than sent elsewhere.

Printed work
Where most enquiries start
Each of these pages covers what the product involves and what we need from you to price it.
- 01
Offset printing
The press method behind most of our work: plates, ink and a rubber blanket, suited to commercial quantities.
- 02
Brochures & catalogues
Folded leaflets through to stitched multi-page catalogues, printed as a matched set with covers and text pages.
- 03
Business cards & stationery
Cards, letterheads, compliment slips and envelopes that stay consistent across every reprint.
- 04
Labels & stickers
Product labels, promotional stickers and cut-to-shape formats, laminated and die cut as needed.
How the work is printed
Offset, and when it is the right call
Offset printing transfers ink from a plate to a rubber blanket and then onto the sheet. Setting up plates takes time, so short runs carry that cost heavily — but once the press is running, each additional sheet is inexpensive and the colour stays where it was set. That combination is why commercial quantities of brochures, catalogues, labels and packaging are still printed this way.
It also handles a wider range of stocks than most office equipment: uncoated boards, heavy card, textured papers and the substrates used for cartons. If a job needs foiling or Spot UV afterwards, the sheet has to be laid out with that in mind from the start, which is easier when the printing and the finishing are planned together.
Before you send an enquiry
What to have ready
- Product — brochure, catalogue, label, card, carton, poster.
- Finished size — flat size and folded size if it folds.
- Quantity — and any second quantity you want compared, since the price per copy moves with the run.
- Extent — number of pages for a booklet, or printed one side / both sides for flat work.
- Finishing — lamination, foiling, Spot UV, die cutting, or nothing at all.
- Date needed — so we can tell you what is realistic.
Missing information is not a problem. Describe the job in plain terms and we will fill in the specification with you.
Printing questions
What details do you need for a printing quotation?
The product, the finished size, the quantity, the number of printed pages or sides, and whether you want any finishing such as lamination, foiling, Spot UV or die cutting. If you already know the paper or board you want, include it. If not, describe what the job is for and we will suggest a stock.
What artwork files should I supply?
Print-ready PDF is the most reliable format, set at the finished size with bleed on any element that runs off the edge, and with fonts embedded or converted to outlines. We can also work from the original design files. If your artwork is not set up for print, our designers can prepare it here.
Can you print and finish the same job?
Yes. Lamination, die cutting, foiling and Spot UV are handled in-house alongside the printing, so a job does not have to be sent out to a separate finishing house and brought back between stages.
Do you print small quantities as well as long runs?
Yes. Short runs are normally produced digitally, since there are no plates to make. Longer runs move to offset, where the set-up cost is spread across more copies and the price per unit falls. Tell us the quantity and we will advise which route makes sense.
Planning a print job?
Send the product, quantity, size and finish you have in mind and we will price it. If the specification is not settled yet, describe what you are producing and we will work back to the stock, print method and finishing that suit it.
